I had the pleasure of attending this years FFA auction with Rolando Vera. Rolando's charcoal drawing was one of six pieces to be selected from this years Aldine ISD Rodeo Student Art Competition to go the FFA Auction where buyers bid on everything from livestock, to artwork.
With only two days notice Rolando was required to market himself to potential buyers during a dinner directly before the auction. Rolando moved about the crowd, making introductions and selling the idea that his work was something to be remembered. While other students in his place struggled immensely with the new and uncomfortable role, Rolando jumped at the challenge. He has proven to me again and again that he will not shy away from challenge and opportunity.
I am overjoyed to announce that Rolando's Piece was sold for the whopping sum of $3,750!
