Mission Statement

As an integral part of a strong academic program, the Carver Visual Arts Department believes that everyone can learn to draw, paint, sculpt or design with quality instruction, a strong work ethic, and a growth mindset.   As a Carver art student, you can expect to learn how to use your visual voice to express yourself as you explore new techniques in making quality artworks while working with other talented young artists on your journey to artistic success.

Carver Seniors are proud to showcase the artwork they have produced over the last four years. Their ability to communicate through visual media has grown and developed substantially throughout their High School careers and I am so proud of the body of work they have developed!

 

The Virtual Gallery is hosted by Artsteps and works best on a computer. You can access the gallery through a mobile device as well but may need to download the Artsteps app from the Google Play or App Store

 

Virtual Gallery Controls

Click on the "i" in the upper left corner of the screen for a brief tutorial while in the gallery

Virtual Tour: Click on the Play button on the bottom of the screen to start a guided tour of the gallery. Clicking on the downward facing arrow (right next to the play button) will allow you to navigate directly to a specific student's work

 

Movement: You can move around the gallery using the arrow keys, "WASD", or by clicking on either the floor in front of you or on any part of the mini map in the lower left hand corner of the screen

 

View: Look around the gallery by clicking and dragging the mouse

 

Full Screen: Click on the box underneath the "i" in the top left of the screen to enlarge the Virtual Gallery to full screen

COURSES OFFERED

Paint - Printmaking - Drawing - Sculpture

Digital Art - Photography - AP Studio Art

Your 4 years at Carver will begin with Art 1 foundations and continue to a second year of study in Drawing and Digital Art and Media.  Students then move into their choice of upper level art classes ranging from photography, painting, printmaking and sculpture that include advanced levels of studio practice in art making, art appreciation, and art criticism and analysis. These skills are aligned with the Studio Habits of Artists and are actively taught at all levels.  Curriculum in these courses focuses on a variety of mediums and parallels the instruction students might receive in college level studio courses.
